We keep adding Some Helpful Science Facts:

Never Cook with Olive Oil
I'm absolutely amazed at the number of people who cook with Olive Oil. Never cook with olive oil. Olive oil is a monounsaturated fat that is best consumed in its natural state at room temperature. It is quite heat sensitive and decomposes to a non-healthy derivitive when you raise its temperature. The absolute Best oil to cook with is Coconut Oil. The body completely metabolizes this medium chain triglyceride and the health benefits are numerous. Some of the most obvious benefits of Coconut Oil are for improved neuron firing in the brain and allowing the cells to absorb insulin when they should. Unfortunately, vegetable oils do the opposite. They hinder brain functioning and contribute to insulin insensitivity (Type 2 Diabetes).

How Do I Raise My Good Cholesterol?
One common question I receive after discovering oxidized cholesterol crystals in a client's blood is "How do I raise my good cholesterol and lower my bad cholesterol?" The good cholesterol is known as 'HDL' and you actually want a high number. One way to raise HDL levels is by taking between 500-2,000mg per day of the B-vitamin (B3) known as Niacin. Unfortunately, niacin can also raise your liver enzyme levels, so check with your doctor before supplementing. The bad cholesterol is known as 'LDL' and you want this number to be low because LDL cholesterol is the easiest to oxidize to form plaque. You can lower your LDL levels by putting garlic powder on your food, or just by eating freshly cooked garlic. You can also eat 'Edamame', which are those little green beans you get with your sushi.

Foods that Ward Off Cancers
H
ere are some foods that ward off specific types of cancers. Remember, these foods are NOT necessarily cures. Please suggest these foods to anyone you know who you think would benefit from these simple dietary additions.

How much B is enough?
I'm often asked how much of the B vitamins should one take. I suggest a daily dose of 6 mg of vitamin B6, 700 mcg of vitamin B9 (Folic Acid), and 25 mcg of vitamin B12 if you are under 50 years old. Since your body's production of the digestive enzymes necessary to absorb B12 declines with age, increase your B12 intake to between 400-800 mcg on a daily basis based on your years above 50. Of course, the best way to get any vitamin is in your food, if possible. You can get your B6 from tuna, potatoes, chicken, and bananas, while Folic Acid and B12 are found in whole grains, fruit juices, and cereals.

Cold & Flu Repair
Now that we have officially entered the so called 'Cold & Flu' season, I want to remind everyone that your best defense always has and always will be a strong immune system.  If you do feel a cold coming on, simply gargle and swallow one ounce of colloidal silver per day until you are well.

What should I always buy Organic?
In order to reduce your exposure to pesticides and increase your exposure to disease fighting plant nutrients like 'phenols', make sure you always purchase the following produce as Organic:
Peaches, Strawberries, Kale, Apples, Spinach, Lettuce, Potatoes, Celery, Bell Peppers, Domestic Blueberries, Imported Nectarines, and Grapes.  You might have noticed that the above list contains fruits and vegetables where the skin or peel is consumed.
